John F Kennedy And His Leadership Style History Essay Transformational leadership qualities are not only inherited in person but external environments also involved to build up a leader. Transformational leadership has become so prominent in todays society, especially in the Western world, where athletics, military, and politics all thrive on it. Of course, transformational leadership would not exist if there were no followers, but it is a skill that is extremely effective and needed. Leaders are effective decision makers, strong motivators, and masters of communication. You can instantly tell who is a great leader by observing the way everyone elses effort is as a whole. A great leader is someone who is both task and relationship oriented. While they establish interpersonal relationships with their teammates, they also make sure that everyone is prepared for the task at hand. Transformational Leadership is the behaviour of an individual when he is directing the activities of group towards a share goal. Such leaders act as a communication bridge by inspiring and motivating followers towards particular goals in an organised way. Strong communication skill is a major quality of a leader. The progress of a team depends on the encouragement and affectivity of its leader. Transformational leaders build the teams and motivate them. It can be hard, but it can make a difference. Transformational Leadership emerges from situations in which there is no formal leadership or in the context of formally designated roles (Ronald K. Smith, 2004). Transformational leaders serve as role models and focus on the well being of their followers by helping them develop to their fullest potential. Transformational leadership is associated with the following four factors: idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration. Followers who are able to solve issues without the help of a leader are more likely to have higher self-confidence; therefore, leading to higher motivation and production. Transformational leaders utilize individualized consideration to establish self-esteem and pride in followers by treating them as individuals. Followers with high self-confidence may be more likely to initiate and finish projects that are outside their realm of duties, because they are less afraid of negative repercussions if they fail. Leaders who take the time to meet and know their followers provide an inviting work environment. Followers who feel that their leaders care about them may be mo re motivated to produce superior work to please their leaders. Transformational leaders provide supportive work environments for their followers. These leaders are tolerant to followers mistakes and more willing to teach and model proper behaviour. Transformational leaders involve their followers in problem-solving and innovative sessions. Inviting and encouraging followers to participate in goal setting is characteristic of these types of leaders. These leaders engage themselves with followers and serve as mentors and role models. Transformational leaders, much like charismatic and servant leaders, establish a rapport with their followers. They show an interest for others. Both transformational and servant leaders value others, develop followers, build communities, display authenticity, and share leadership. John F. Kennedy and his Leadership Style: As a president, John F. Kennedy was known for his capability to handle the problems that were out of reach of the other people. By a layman it is usually wondered how skilled can a person be that he can take care of problems which are observed to be much more complicated and bigger than which can be handled by a mortal man. John F. Kennedy proved this by his dedication and determination towards his job as a president. All this proved to be a success not only by his efforts but also with the help of the people as they got a surrounding where they can be at their best. The success of the leader does not only depend on his ability but also on his relationships that he has to establish. Kennedy always was against creating layers in the surroundings which would promote open communication among the individuals which would end up in rivals. In order to avoid the dictatorial nature of a leader, a lot of attention to the details is required so that the respective task is covered by the appropriate person with proper co-ordination and guidance (John A. Barnes, 2007). His personality was embedded with a combination of affection and hard mind. He thoroughly enjoyed the variety of diverse personalities and talents that surrounded him throughout the era of his presidency. He always respected an individual for what he was. He had certain reliability in his acceptance of men to work with him. To make things go right, he had a perfect assessment of the people who would be useful and how can their talents be fruitful. Type of Leader: Out of all the leadership styles, Kennedys leadership style proved to be the most effective and influenced one. He followed the authoritative and charismatic leadership style. Authoritative leaders are to be known as the experts in whatever they get into. They are able to provide you with a clear vision and a perfect path through which it can be achieved and be a success. In Kennedys leadership this quality can be seen very clearly because he had the capability to mobilize the people towards the vision and make use of what they were best in (Peter G. Northhouse, 2009). John F. Kennedy Authoritative Leadership: The authoritarian leadership approach is used by leaders that desire or need to have complete power in decision-making. This method is often expressed by the leader informing his people purposely what to do and how to do it, and is most frequently necessary when time is of the essence. However, this approach should not be used too frequently, because it could direct to the observation of bossiness on the leaders part, which could conduct to reduced peoples inspiration and reduced commitment. Effective leaders are likely to use power in a subtle, careful fashion that minimizes status differentials and avoids threats to the target persons self esteem.Ã Kennedys approach generates an optimistic and cheerful man to work with (Erwin C. Hargrove, 2008). John F. Kennedy also played a role in situational leadership where he had to loosen his management approach to every circumstance. He considered being successful with the authoritative leadership style when he was the inhabitant specialis t. (Lewis J. Paper, 1975). In his era some of the people supporting him found such alteration a bit scratchy and disturbing to the place of work or to them individually and some had found it bit difficult to relate John F. Kennedy ideas of the upcoming so called future. By his authoritative leadership style, he was able to engage different generations of this nation by communicating his philosophy of hope and change through traditional sources. In his own words, he is audacious enough to propose that Americans can and should transform the nation into something that is better. His political and leadership messages have focused consistently on transformation. John F. Kennedy Charismatic Leadership style: What makes a charismatic leader different from others is his vision to encapsulate obedience of the followers. Using unconventional methods allows a charismatic leader to convince followers that they are not the normal leaders they are new, different, and inspiring. Trust and creditability comes from the willingness of these people to sacrifice themselves for the betterment of followers and organizations. Charismatic leaders usually have high follower expectations and are able to encourage these expectations by using unconventional behaviours to establish credibility, sensitivity, and appeal. Although charismatic leaders have a strong following, it is important to point out that they may have a dark side. Charismatic leaders may take advantage of the fact that they are so well liked and trusted and encourage followers to focus on and aim for atrocious goals. Charismatic leaders are more equipped to influence followers to participate in corrupt behaviour. Because followers trust and like their leaders they may be more willing to ignore and not question any odd behaviour. In some era of John F. Kennedy life people have noticed a charismatic Leadership style. However, the charismatic magic can be equally a lucky thing and a nuisance on the general public. John F. Kennedy charismatic leadership style help him make himself capable of using his personal magic or charm to get the work done out of people. This comes out to an effective, challenging and powerful method to guide other people. John F. Kennedy as a charismatic leader time and again fluent the hallucination by means of descriptions and tales in behaviour that each human being can be aware of his mental picture or image. The persons who support him usually saw him as individual that have power over and capability to create in individuals mind the prospect with transparency. This also helped him become a role model for his workplace. Kennedy has utilized many media to begin his process of leadership. His inspirational motivation behaviour has been seen in the speeches he gave during the campaign which served to engage and energize both his supporters and those on the fence. Examples from his Leadership: John Kennedy proved to be a transformational leader from the very beginning after being elected. After his inaugural address there was no longer any question about Kennedys ideological orientation. He was still a pragmatist, but he stood on his political legacy as the heir to Roosevelt and Truman. He deluged the Congress with addresses, messages and exhortations. His authoritative leadership trait can be seen in this example. The New Frontier, as his program was styled, had some success, especially in its first year. Congress established the Peace Corps, raised the minimum wage, liberalized social security benefits, and passed bills on housing, depressed areas, manpower retraining, and temporary unemployment compensation. The president was given unprecedented authority to negotiate large across-the-board traffic cuts. As a president, John F. Kennedy did succeed in mobilizing impressive public pressure for his legislative program. Personally he was enormously popular. But the country was generally prosperous, and it was difficult to interest large numbers of voters in the need for change. Some of the Kennedys admirers held that he should be more vigorous in seeking public support and less wary of altercation with the legislative branch. But his own reading of U.S. history was that presidents had rarely succeeded in appealing to the people over the heads of their elected representatives. He was a man of ideas and man of action, but through war, sickness, and politics he had also acquired the tempering qualities of patience and prudence. This proved the charisma in his personality as a leader. He demonstrated the authoritative and charismatic characteristic in two of his most cherished legislative proposals languished for many months and were not passed until after his death. One was a measure to spur economic growth through massive cuts in individual and corporate income tax rates. The plan accepted the inevitability of budget deficits for several years in the expectation that an enlarged economy would increase federal revenues later. The second major proposal that Kennedy left behind was the most sweeping civil rights bill of the century. In this field the president was a late starter. Despite campaign promised and pledges in the 1960 Democratic platform, upon assuming office he felt that he could not endanger immediately into battle with Southern members of Congress. He and his brother Attorney General Robert Kennedy accomplished much through administrative action, recourse to the courts, and the firm use of federal power when Southern officials sought to frustrate court orders. But the president and his brother deferred legislative action until what proved to be Kennedys last month of administration. In 1963 a great wave of black demonstration swept over the country, the North as well as the South. Delay was no longer possible. Inviting Republican congressional leaders into full partnership, the administration worked out a comprehensive bill including curbs on discrimination in employment and in public accommod ations and facilities, and the withholding of federal funds from programs in which the evidence was clear that discrimination was being practiced. As a transformational leader, in the field of foreign policy, President Kennedy began with a disaster and ended with what might in subsequent years develop into a major breakthrough in post-World War II international relations. The disaster was in ill-conceived and badly executed attempt in April 1961 to invade Communist Cuba, using Cuban exiles as troops with extensive US support the project had been conceived during the Eisenhower administration, but Kennedy had to accept, and did accept, responsibility for its dismal failure. Some observers blamed him for not providing U.S. air cover for the invaders, and some charged the Central Intelligence Agency with faulty intelligence and ineptitude. The disaster was a sobering experience for a young, confident president not yet three months in office. Another example exhibiting his authoritative leadership was his vision that was regarding the United States space program. One of his speeches in 1962, speaking to the students in Rice University, he said: We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win (Thomas E. Gort, 1962) He continued to talk about a long term vision of sending a man to the moon. He talked about the metal alloys that were not invented at that time; these alloys were capable of standing huge amount of heat and stresses times more than have ever been experienced. His vision to send a person to moon and getting him back to land safely was his main theme behind his this speech at the university. He explained the entire idea by which this could be accomplished. Here he was exhibiting an authoritative nature that gathered together the resources of the entire nation to a particular goal. As an authoritative leader, Kennedy made the relaxation of East-West tension his central purpose. A June 1961 meeting with Khrushchev, in Vienna, proved fruitless. But the soviets beset with internal problems and their ideological dispute with Communist China eventually became more receptive to western overtures. In June 1963, in a speech at American university in Washington, D.C., Kennedy called for a break in the vicious and dangerous cycle of the cold war. He announced yet another conference aimed at producing a nuclear test ban treaty, and he said that pending the outcome of the negotiations, the United States would refrain from atmospheric testing. At the meeting, held in Moscow, the United States, United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union finally agreed upon a limited nuclear test ban treaty. It was later adhered to buy scores of other powers (not including France and Communist China) and was easily ratified in the U.S. Senate. It was, perhaps, the most important accomplishment of t he Kennedys administration. But treaties and acts of Congress did not fully measure the impact of John Kennedys brief tenure upon the national consciousness. The New Frontier, indeed, was often more celebrated for its image and its style then for its works. A number of reasons proved his nature of authoritative and charismatic nature. The president seemed to be everywhere illuminating nearly every aspect of the national life, from culture to physical fitness, from moral in the Foreign Service to the beautification in Washington, D.C. Although he made some enemies, notably in business circles and among Southern segregationists, his popularity often transcended the usual political and ideological lines. Overseas he was admired by statesmen and ordinary citizen alike (Fred I. Greenstein, 1988). He was considered a charismatic speaker and a great communicator. He spoke with passion but stated his ideas simply, allowing him to appear very bright but still appealing to the average American. Kennedy was also seen as compassionate when he created the Peace Corps to provide aid to needy countries by enabling Americans to volunteer to help the countries in need. He set high goals for America, believing that they would put a man on the moon by the end of the 1960s as well as advance in other areas such as the fight against poverty and prejudice, and the fight for world peace. Kennedy was also the youngest elected president which helped many Americans identify with him after generations of old men running the government. Although he smoked cigars, he never smoked in public to avoid setting a bad example for children which helped win him more admiration. He also won admiration from the American public by taking full responsibility for his mistakes (such as the Bay of Pigs invasion,) rather than blaming it on his advisors or the previous administration. The fact that he handled the Cuban Missile Crisis without causing a nuclear war, as well as signing a treaty to end nuclear tests in the earths atmosphere to stop radioactive pollution helped save many potential lives all around the world that could have been lost had he gotten into a war with Russia. Conclusion: Anyone that possesses any of the above qualities with an additional dose of courage could be a leader, which doesnt mean that you have to be leading a group of people. You can be a leader just by living by example expressing to people the right things to do, because you will be surprised by how many people are watching. Being a leader is not an easy task because things dont always go as we anticipate, so thats where the courage comes in because it kind of motivates you to keep going when you want to give up due to obstacles. In conclusion all that am saying is that for a leader to be utterly successful one of the most efficient quality that he needs to his character is Achievement Motivation which is strengthened by the Internal Locus of Control, Social Self Efficacy, Multicultural Competence, and an Effective Communication Style so as to accomplish their goals to the fulfillment of those that they are supposedly making a positive impact on their life.

Julius Caesar on Honour
Despite the word ââ¬Ëhonor' being used frequently in the play, there is little evidence of it actually being demonstrated in the play. Do you agree? In Shakespearean' Julius Caesar the idea of honor was a central element to the play. By definition honor involves a sense of self-sacrifice and the quality of knowing and doing something morally right; although this definition was challenged by characters trying to balance personal honor and national honor. Many circumstances in the play occurred due to the characters attempting to be honorable and others acting in spite of it.Although the word honor was mentioned numerous times there was little evidence of characters actually displaying this trait. This essay will explore characters that didn't show honor and had negative traits but also cover the little honor that was shown, by characters such as Brutes. Honor was spoken about more than it was shown but there is still some evidence of honor displayed in this play. Many characters in the play, Julius Caesar, did not show honor towards others in many different situations.There was a large use of the word honor, especially in the scene here Antonym was addressing the audience, but the word was overused and sarcastic. ââ¬Å"For Brutes is an honorable man, So are they all, all honorable menâ⬠(3. 2. 74) Antonym stated that all the conspirators were honorable and by this he was trying to persuade the audience to disagree with this statement. This speech mentioned honor numerous times but there was no sincerity about it being displayed. All the conspirators apparently killed Caesar for all of Rome but we know that especially with Cassias and Case, that they did it not only for Rome but for themselves. L was born free as Caesar; so were you; We both have fed as well, and e can both; Endure the winter's cold as well as heâ⬠(1. 2. 97) Cassias was Jealous of Career's power and therefore the killing of Caesar from the view of Cassias and Case was dishonorable. Also Decides convinced and lied to Caesar about coming to the senate and played on Caesar weaknesses which was dishonorable. To honor someone in this play sometimes meant that it would be dishonorable to others. This was displayed a lot in the play as characters struggled to choose between personal and national honor.What was right for the city was wrong for Caesar, which is what al the conspirators positions. They had to choose, especially Brutes, to honor their friend or their city. With the influences of Cassias for Brutes the choice was made and it was an honorable act in the eyes of some but obviously the murder of a friend was quite the opposite. This was also a problem with Antonym; ââ¬Å"Career's spirit, ranging for revenge, With Ate by his side, come hot from hellâ⬠(3. 1. 270) Antonym needed to honor the memory of his close friend by killing the conspirators.This could be seen as an honorable act because he needed to stand by his friend but it as also a savage act o f proclaiming war with many causing numerous deaths, such as Brutes, Tinnitus, Case and many more. Therefore the act of being honorable was diminished as it wasn't an honorable act to all. Honor was a trait spoken about more than displayed but there was some displays of honorable and righteous actions. Brutes was a very honorable character throughout the whole play and was the only character who stuck by his values. Set honor in one eye and death I' the rather die than be dishonorable and throughout the play he displays this many mimes. ââ¬Å"Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more. â⬠(3. 2. 22) He talks about honoring Rome over honoring his friend Caesar. Some may say this is dishonorable but Brutes never had bad intentions and Just wanted what was best for everyone. In Brute's speech he wanted to tell the audience what happened honestly and he made an effort with Antonym also, although that didn't end up being a wise decision. Even at the end, when Brutes c ommitted suicide, it was about honor.He did not want to be captured and paraded through his fellow Romans so he had Strata, ââ¬Å"a fellow of a good respectâ⬠, to assist him to kill himself and to calm the ghost of Caesar. From studying many characters in Julius Caesar, it is obvious that honor is a central concept in the play. Although this is the case, having examined the characters and their actions honorable actions are not shown in most situations. While this is the case with the majority of characters, there is the exception of Brutes and some characters who attempt to have good intentions and act honorably. Overall honor is spoken about a lot more then it is displayed.

[5 hours later] Phone Rang in the Boyââ¬â¢s Room, It was the Girlââ¬â¢s Mum, The girl was lying in the hospital, Got hit by a Car, :ââ¬â¢( The Boy rushed to the Hospital where She was. She Opened Her Eyes with the Boyââ¬â¢s name.. , He took her Hand.. Boy: Im so Sorry Its all my fault..! But; I promise when U get better Iââ¬â¢ll make It up to You.. ( Girl: I wont get Better.. Boy: No..! No Donââ¬â¢t say that.. ðŸ⢠Girl: just tell me one thing Why did you do it? Boy told her that He had a Heart problem ââ¬Ën he did not want her to be worried; ââ¬Ën there was a risk that he could have Died..! Boy: I did that because Iâ⬠¦.. Iâ⬠¦.. I Love you ..? Girl : I LOVE YOU TOO..? ââ¬Ën After That her heart Stopped Beatingâ⬠¦:O She Died..! :ââ¬â¢( The Boy died 10 mins later from a Heart Attack.. :ââ¬â¢( He could not live with the thought that; She died Because of Him.. :ââ¬â¢( -Moral: If You Love Someoneâ⬠¦; Then Donââ¬â¢t Hold Back Your Feelingsâ⬠¦ because Love is The Reason to Live..! A Beautiful Story wish to share with you : Once a man saw in his dream, that a lion was chasing him. The man ran to a tree, climbed on to it and sat on a branch. He looked down and saw that the lion was still there waiting for him. One rat was black and the other one was white. The branch will fall on the ground very soon. The man then looked up to see if there was anything that he could hold on to. He saw another branch with a honeycomb. Drops of honey were falling from it. The man wanted to taste one of the drops. So, he put his tongue out and tasted one of the falling drops of honey. The honey was amazing in taste. So, he wanted to taste another drop and then another and as a result, he got lost into the sweetness of the honey. He forgot about the two rats eating his branch away, the lion on the ground and the snake that is sitting right under him. Suddenly when the branch broke he remembered all the dangers woke up from his sleep. Since this was an unique dream, the man went to a pious scholar of Islam to know its meaning. The scholar said ââ¬Å"The lion you saw is your death. It always chases you and goes where ever you go. The two rats, one black and one white, are the night and the day. Grief counseling is a division of social work that involves the interpersonal aspect of the social workerââ¬â¢s role as expert in coping with death. In this paper I will define grief counseling and some ways to cope with loss. Next I will discuss the history and seven stages of grief. There are two main forms of grievers which are intuitive and instrumental. In addition there are four major types of grief which are acute, anticipatory, sudden and complicated. The helping process is explained as well as some disorders related to grief. A current trend for grievers is to seek involvement in programs such as the Canadian Cancer Society, Missing Children of Canada and Victim Services. These organizations provide counseling services and crisisâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦People going through grief often feel disorganized and have difficulty eating, sleeping or concentrating. Grief counselors ease the expression of emotion and thought about the loss and give insight to their feelings (Doka 1996). There are numerous reactions to grief, both good and bad. Behaviors that deal with grief positively are through art, writing, support groups or celebrations of the loved one. Some negative ways to deal with grief include feelings of anger, frustration, helplessness, depression and withdrawal from family and friends. A common yet self-destructive way to cope with loss is by turning to substances such as alcohol or drugs. This also requires counselors in order to help them get to the root of their problems. Sigmund Freud was an influential psychoanalyst in the late 18th century to the early 19th century. He made many advances in the field of psychology which have impacted other academic areas such as sociology and social work. In his 1915 paper ââ¬Å"Mourning and Melancholiaâ⬠he connected the normal realm with the pathological. On The Road Not Taken Most people believe that The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost was written to inspire people to be different, and to not follow the majority. However, the poem was actually written to gently tease one of Frosts good friends, and fellow poet, Edward Thomas. Frost and Thomas would take walks in the woods together, and Thomas would take Frost down one path and later regret not choosing a different path. This would lead one to believe that Frost is actually ridiculing the action of regretting decisions. Considering this pert nit background information, the poems meaning can be quite contrary to popular belief. It guides the reader from the idea that Frost wants you to differentiate yourself, to a concept ofâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Although a decision was made to take a certain path, it is ironic that Frost described both paths as being practically the same. Perhaps Frost used the word taken instead of chosen since there was virtually no choice to be made. The way the poem has b een remembered, is that one should follow ones own heart, and not what other people do. After only a brief review, it is conceivable how someone would assume the popular belief associated with the poem. However under a closer review there are many contradictions hidden within the poem. First the key concept towards the poems popular belief is that of choosing something different. At the very end of the poem Frost writes, I took the one less traveled by/ and that has made all the difference (19, 20), giving the reader the impression that a rebellious decision has been made. Frost contradicts himself earlier by describing the two roads as being about the same. Answer: Introduction Marketing is a management process which involves the transfer of goods and services from the manufacturers to the ultimate consumers through different intermediaries like whole seller, retailers, jobbers etc. This study is based on the STP concept of marketing and an initiative has been taken to analyze that how an organization is able to achieve success by implementing this concept. It also includes the marketing mix and market orientation and their role in marketing. Creating awareness about product and services. Build corporate image of the organization. Create effective promotional strategies. Follow a well developed distribution channel. Attract consumers and persuade them. Ensuring good quality of product and services. In this study an organization from the service sector industry has been selected as they provide both products and services. The name of the selected organization is Barclays Bank (Barclays.co.uk, 2015). It is a very famous bank at the United Kingdom. The bank has two segments namely Global Retail and Commercial Banking (GRCB), and Investment Banking and Investment Management (IBIM). This organization provides convenience to the consumers and attracts them by giving quality service. The old concept of marketing has changed over times. Now the marketing activities are more focused on the customer satisfaction. So the orientation of activities is not bounded into a single area. Marketing orientation consists of production orientation, product orientation, sales orientation, market orientation and customer orientation. Production orientation As this company is mainly concerned with the financial services so here the production orientation is given on the valuable services. The cost associated with this orientation program is the cost of training employees, the cost of maintaining several branches etc. the benefit derived from the orientation is that the bank can able to provide services at a low cost so they have a huge customer base. Sales orientation The branches of the bank are strategically located which is easily accessible by the customers. They have both options i.e. consumers can get their product from online or through direct selling. The cost for this orientation programme is website maintenance cost and cost of direct selling program. The benefit derived from this is the faster service and it also leads to the environmental safety as it reduces the paperwork. Marketing orientation To penetrate the local market Barclays introduces new products at a lower cost. They also provide services at a discounted price. Barclays organizes several customers social events like football games, customer dinners etc. They handle customer service very promptly. The cost required for this is the cost of making marketing strategies, cost of organizing events etc. the benefit derived from this is obviously the expansion of the business and greater revenue generation. Product- Barclays bank adopts their product strategies as per the consumers demand. Almost regularly they are launching new products. They have established new ATM centers and provide guarantee of their services and products. Price Barclays pricing is applied with relation to its competitors prices in order to win the market share. They have prices specific to different market segments. They have segregated their market on the basis of age, region, income and offer different products to different market segment. Place- All the branches of the bank are located centrally. They have efficient and adequate ATM networks which serve the cash need of the consumers. Barclays open co brand activities with different supermarkets to capture new market share. Promotion- They uses different communication medium like T.V, Radio and Newspaper to reach the customers. They use sales promotion techniques for increase the sale of several products like credit cards, personal loans etc. Each of its branches has product catalogues for all the products offered. The company sometimes outsources advertisement and marketing services as a part of their promotional strategies (Goi, 2009). The three additional Ps for service marketing is people, process and physical environment which are discussed in brief as follows (Principles of service MARKETING and management., 2014); (Services Marketing, 7/e, 2015) People- people strategies of a company are nothing but its HR policies. As per the customer opinion Barclays staffs are highly professional and the company invests more towards their motivation and makes them happy. They are giving good rewards to their employees and have implemented the decentralized system where the middle and lower level employees can participate in the decision making. Process- Barclays process strategies include maintaining all the confidential data about the consumers. They have extended their banking hours. They provide quality service on time. They have introduced some automated service like cheque printing facilities. Physical environment-The physical environment strategies include user friendly product catalogues for handicapped customers. Queues in the branches are well managed by the staffs. The ambiance and furnishing of their branches are very modern compared to their competitors so that their clients can enjoy a comfortable transaction experience Market segmentation means segregating the whole market into small parts on the basis of different criteria. Criteria can be based on demographic, psychographic, geographic etc. Demographic segmentation is related with the size and nature of the population for example some products are suitable for children like chocolates, toys etc. for that type of product the segmentation will be based on the age of the population. Psychographic segmentation is based on the psychology of the consumers. For example the recent evolution of mobile industry is the introduction of I phones. Now this type of products is mostly preferred by the young stars and office goers but old aged people generally feel uncomfortable to use these products. This is mainly due to the psychology of the consumers. So any company when they are giving advertisement regarding this type of products will be more focused on young consumers. Psychographic division can also be based on the status of the consumers. The psychology of a person belonging to the high income group is different from the psychology of the lower income group people. Geographic segmentation as the name suggests implies the segmentation of the market on the basis of area. Here more concentration is given on the area wise performance and area wise target. Here we can take the example of Samsung which have done their segmentation in the following way (Samsung.com, 2015)- Teenagers or entertainment lovers by proving them Home cinema, Mp3 players etc. Housewives and families by home appliances. Business Professionals by inventing new products like Galaxy range, note books etc. Geographic- Samsung sells their products especially smart phones into 61 different countries all over the world. Demographic- Target mainly middle class of high class income levels and age level is between 19-29 years. Psychographic- teenagers or individuals belonging to the mid 30 group who like new technologies and innovated product features. Usage rate segmentation- Samsung products are highly convenient and there are a large percentage of heavy users who uses Samsung products. When a firm identified its market segments it wants to target then it is essential for the firm to develop some targeting strategies for those segments. The strategies can be of different in nature. In single segment strategy the firm is concentrating on the single market. Here single marketing mix technique is used. These strategies are mainly adopted by the small firms. A firm can formulate differential strategies when they are targeting different market segments. Here a firm can use different marketing mix. The most interesting thing about these strategies is that the products are often different in different segments. Product specialization strategy occurs if any firm is dealing with a very attractive product. In market specialization strategy there must be one or two specialized market segments which are very attractive and variety of products are available in that market. When the firm tries to cover the full market segment and want to serve all the customers then it can take full market coverage strategy. Here we again take the example of Samsung and their targeting strategies- They have customer focused design which they developed by analyzing the local culture, industry trend and lifestyle of the people. They have adopted winning targeting strategies where Technological leadership and customer focus design together makes an innovative change. Samsung is the first company which produces World First Full HD LED TV. They have some premium brands seeker target group who belonging to a very high income category. Positioning means to create a positive image about the company in such a way so that it can survive and able to get a market place in the competitive environment. Positioning strategies are the most important marketing strategy because the success or failure of a business is depends on the basis of this effective strategy. For example Daewoo in the UK positioned them successfully as family value model. Volkswagen had a negative image before it purchased Skoda and it was known as the cheap car in UK, but the important point is that they repositioned their brand image and now known as good and each and every year they wins car of the year awards. For effective positioning of the brand the first thing that a marketing manager needs to do is the marketing research. This is important because the consumers world is very dynamic. Their taste and preferences are always changing so it is the duty of the firms to know what the need of the customer is, so that they can able to serve their needs. As per the responses collected from the consumers the company needs to add some product features or can eliminate some features if it is not necessary. By the new positioning strategy the target market can be changed. For example initially when the smart phones were introduced it was too costly and only affordable to the higher income groups, but at the passage of time various companies are adding new features and the price is become very cheap so that it can be easily affordable by all segments. In this way their target market is getting changed. The consumer buying behavior is a complex decision making process and several internal and external factors have some effects on these decisions. Consumers generally does not spent too much time in thinking if the product is having very low value but when the purchase decision involves a huge investment then it is a matter of concern for the customers (Samli, 2013). The consumer buying behavior involved a particular process which is followed by each and every individual. This process is as follows- Recognition of problem or need. Information search. Evaluate the alternatives. Purchase decisions. Post purchasing behavior. Affect on marketing activities As I have already stated that buying behavior is depend on the internal and external factors. This can affect the marketing strategy of a business. It can help the business to formulate a better marketing strategy by creating marketing mix of different types of ads and promotional techniques. Consumer behavior can affect the demand and supply of the products that is prevailing in the market .sometimes we are get some programmed response from the consumers for certain types of products. Generally these type of products are not too expensive and consumers may bought it frequently. For example a specific brand of soft drinks. These types of products do not require extensive research. Another type of buying behavior affects the marketing activities which are known as the complex buying behavior. These are for the highly expensive products or services and so the consumers can make a detail research before purchasing the product. Beside these there are also some internal factors that affec t the activities like personal, psychological and social factor. There is some difference between the consumer buying behavior and business buying behavior. In consumer buying behavior the buying is made for the consumption purpose but in business buying process it is done for resell purpose. Consumer buying processes involve one or two consumers but businesses buying process include several intermediaries. Consumer buying behavior is influenced by basic needs and psychological factors where as business buying behavior is influenced by the environmental and organizational factors. Here we can use the example of HSBC which belongs to the financial sector. They provide additional banking hours, customer orientation programmes, ensure less error, service recovery and understand the need of their consumers. For implementing all these they have also initiated some training programs for their employees so that they can provide good quality service to the clients. The two potential segments serving by an organization should be B2B and B2C organizations. In B2B an organization passes its product and services to the intermediaries who in turn sell the products to the consumers. On the other hand in B2C the company sells its products or services ultimately to the consumers. So for both these segments there are different strategies for creating marketing mix (Constantinides, 2006). Business to consumer marketing mix should be done through- Sales promotion. Word of mouth. Media relationship. Websites Macro environment PESTEL framework Political At the present scenario the changing global environment is challenge as well as opportunity for Sainsburys. As the numbers of competitors are increasing so the company is forced to maintain best quality for its products and services. Sainsbury is one of the top four retailers in UK, but an investigation was going on regarding the price fixing of the company which may create a negative impression in the minds of the consumers. The corporate tax rate is reduced by the UK government from 30% to 28% which help the company because they can now able to save a huge amount of money. Economical Due to the food crisis in the global market both the production price and the marketing price of the company has increased. As a result of which consumers decreases their spend on luxury products and the supply chain of the company is getting affected. Social In todays world consumers are more health conscious and there is a trend of eating fresh foods. So Sainsburys introduce new recipes which are easy to cook and also healthy. Technological The spent on internet purchase is increased globally as there is a rapid increase in the ecommerce industry. So Sainsburys must take the advantage of the growing market. Environmental The ethical issues are now growing to a large extent. With these issues companies has to sell organic foods and has to treat animals in a good way. So for maintaining these compliances Sainsburys is now recently engaged in green activities. Legal As per the law on food and drinks Sainsburys has to maintain packaging and labeling accordingly. They have engaged in banking business also so they have to comply with the risk management policies. Micro environment Porters five force model Competition- Tesco, Morrisons and Asda are the three big competitors of the Sainsburys. It has a market share of 14.9% in 2007 which is now increasing but still it is lagging behind the market leader TESCO. Barriers for entry- Barriers to entry are very high in the food retail market because they have to maintain different factors. In UK retail is in the advance stage so there is less chance for new entrants to enter into the market. Threat from substitute- This threat is less in food retail as people use these products as their necessities. The threat for substitute in Sainsburys is basically an internal industry threat where the business of one super market is suppressed by others. Bargaining power- Here the consumers bargaining powers are more as the retailers sell same types of the product. It is only the loyalty factor of the consumers which give an impact on the bargaining power. Supplier power- In food retail sector there is always a threat of suppliers power. As in the supermarkets several big brands are available like PG, Cadbury who can maintain their own chain. So if the retail stores are unable to sell their own products there will always be a threat. International market is always differs from the domestic market. The main reason behind this is in the domestic market the culture and the taste and preference of the consumers are almost same but when a company dealing with the international market then it has to be accustomed with different cultures of different countries. International marketing is more complex than the domestic marketing. There are some influences of economical, legal and environmental factors also. Sainsbury is now operating almost 12 countries in the world. So they need to adopt different marketing strategies like implementation of wireless networking, compliances with the laws, rules and regulations of the respective governments, understanding of domestic cultures etc. in domestic market also the company has to give focus on these factors but the difference is that in domestic market all these factors are familiar (J-sainsbury.co.uk, 2015). Sainsbury can increase its internet selling. Sainsburys provide good quality products and environmental friendly product. Sainsburys banking business should ensure smooth and faster transaction. There is a scandal of price fixing in the company for which an investigation is going on so the company should take proper initiative to create a positive image in the mind of the consumers. Sainsburys should adopt pricing policies like they can give discounts, offers to the customers. In this way their sell will increase and if by the technological innovation they can able to reduce their product costs then it will help them to compete in the market as well as in expansion (Mooradian, Matzler and Ring, 2012) ; (Pride and Ferrell, 2010). Conclusion From the above discussion it can be concluded that for establishing a new business or for maintaining the existing business it is essential to build up an effective marketing strategy. In the given examples above it is already shown how different companies formulating new strategies and by implementing those they are achieving success.
